A Law Pregnant with Grace

Genesis 17:1

“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.’”

The Law:

“Walk before me faithfully and be blameless.”

The Grace Within the Law:

Faithfulness and blamelessness are only possible as you walk before Me.

This command is not just a demand for perfection—it’s an invitation to proximity. God isn’t telling Abram to be perfect in his own strength. He’s calling him to walk with Him, and in doing so, to become faithful and blameless.

The Power of Proximity

Mark 9:39

“Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me.”

There is a kind of transformation that happens simply by staying near Jesus. Proximity changes behavior, renews thinking, and strengthens faith.

When we stay close to Him:

  1. We are restrained from sin.

  2. We are empowered for fruitful living.

So, let me ask you:
How close are you to Jesus?
