HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO SHINAR?
It's a place you won't find on a modern map, but the Bible shows us it's a spiritual state we can all find ourselves in.
In Scripture, Shinar represents a place of human shame, pride, and rebellion.
Shame: It was founded by Nimrod, a descendant of Noah's cursed son, Ham (Genesis 10:10).
Pride: It was the plain where humanity built the Tower of Babel to make a name for themselves (Genesis 11:2).
Hostility: Its king was among those who took Lot hostage (Genesis 14:1).
Temptation: The "beautiful robe from Shinar" led to Achan's sin and Israel's defeat (Joshua 7:21 ESV).
The question isn't about geography, but a check for our hearts.
