THE TWO DOCUMENTS
Moses came down with two documents: one is the seven chapters (Exodus 24–31), written by Moses from God’s instructions. The second document was not written on parchment or scroll—it was "tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God" (Exodus 31:18).
One document represents human obedience; the other, divine initiative. This pairing reveals a profound truth: covenant life involves both God’s grace and our response. God writes his law, but we must walk in it. He reveals, we record. He initiates, we respond.
So, as we fast, God inscribes His will upon our hearts and invites us to participate in its outworking—through our choices, our worship, and our obedience. The Christian life is not passive; it is cooperative. God provides the power, but we must offer the hands.
