The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit: A Discipleship Journey Through Acts 1-12
Introduction: Welcome to the Journey

Welcome to this dedicated curriculum for the Potter's School of Service, a vital ministry of Potter's Wheel Church in Gatineau, Quebec. The Potter’s School of Service is designed as a practical, pioneering, and presence-driven discipleship journey. Our primary goal is to help believers deepen their worship of God, equipping them to live faithfully in a distracting world while countering modern-day idols that seek to erase our God-centered identity. Whether you are engaging through the Navigator Path for busy individuals or diving deeper through the Explorer Path, this study is crafted to nourish your soul and connect you to the heart of God.

To truly become "Kingdom People" who bring life and transformation to our community, we must intimately understand the source of our spiritual life: the Holy Spirit. In this series of twelve short devotional articles, we will journey chapter by chapter through the first half of the Book of Acts. The Book of Acts is not just a history lesson; it is the breathtaking story of the early church being filled and equipped to spread the good news that restores God's kingdom over the world.

As we read through Acts chapters 1 through 12, we will focus our hearts on three essential themes. First, we will discover the Holy Spirit as a Person—specifically, a Divine Person. He is not an "it," a generic force like gravity, or a nebulous mist. He has a mind, emotions, and a will. He is the third person of the Trinity, fully God, sent to dwell within us. Second, we will look for the evidence of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. These are supernatural empowerments—such as healing, prophecy, miracles, and administration—given to believers to serve others and boldly preach the gospel.

Finally, we will examine the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. While gifts deal with our actions and service, the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—deals with our deep inner character. The fruit is the organic, natural reality that flows from a life genuinely yielded to God.

Let us open our hearts to the Scriptures and ask the Lord to teach us mightily as we study His Word together.
